GEORGIA FRATERNAL ORDER OF POLICE DAY ON THE HILL 2011

At 0830 we were addressed at the Capitol by the Lt. Governor, Speaker of the House, the Attorney General and the chairman of Public Safety from the House and Senate. During this meeting, House Public Safety Chairman Tim Bearden presented us with House Resolution 406, Recognizing and commending the Fraternal Order of Police for its outstanding service to the law enforcement officers of this state and recognizing March 2 as Fraternal Order of Police Day at the state capitol.   At 1030 Carlton Stallings, along with Lodge Presidents Mark Padgett, Howard Billingslea and Ben Haynes, and our Legislative Chairman Stan Elrod, were called to the Senate Floor where Senate Public Safety Chairman Johnny Grant presented us with a beautiful presentation binder containing a color photo of the Capitol and Senate Resolution 251 designating March 2 as Fraternal Order of Police Day at the Capitol. Our other FOP members were in the balcony and were recognized and applauded by the Senate. I gave a few remarks and thanked the Senate for their work on behalf of the Georgia FOP.   We spent the rest of the day meeting with various legislative leaders on bills and issues of interest to the FOP. Chief Dennis Bell from NE Georgia Lodge 105 also helped us today at the capitol.
