100 Years of Conservation Law Enforcement

2011 has been an important year at the Department of Natural Resources. It marks100 years since the Georgia General Assembly created what was then the Department of Game and Fish to protect and manage the resources of the State. In the early days, the Department consisted almost exclusively of the Commissioner and County Game Wardens. It seemed there was not better way to commemorate the past 100 years of enforcement than to ask Montana Etheridge to create a print to celebrate this milestone. To top it off, Montana happens to be the 18 year old son of Wildlife Technician Larry Etheridge.

Montana was able to take several important events and showcase them in his print including DNR’s K-9 program, the deer stocking program of the 1950’s and one of the new coastal patrol boats. As a centerpiece, an image of the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial shows the names of three fallen Georgia DNR officers.

The print has been limited to 500 and a few are still available by contacting Montana at montanacme258@gmail.com.
